Supporting Student Success
The Peer Tutoring program, developed and directed by the Center for Development, Support, and Success in Engineering and Computing (CDSSEC) at Florida International University’s (FIU) College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), offers free academic support to CEC undergraduate students in upper-level engineering and construction management courses. Funded through the generosity of private and corporate donors, the program enhances student success by providing accessible, high-quality tutoring delivered by peers who understand the rigor and expectations of CEC coursework.
Tutoring is offered in a hybrid format at EC 2760, allowing students to choose either virtual or in-person sessions based on their schedule and learning preferences. Services include personalized one-on-one tutoring for targeted support as well as group study sessions accommodating up to ten students—ideal for collaborative learning, exam preparation, and problem-solving.
Designed to serve as a comprehensive academic support system, the tutoring program helps students strengthen mastery in challenging subjects, improve study strategies, and build academic confidence throughout their engineering journey.
