Graduate Research Opportunities for Workforce Development (GROW) (coming soon)
The Graduate Research Opportunities for Workforce Development (GROW) program, developed and directed by FIU’s Center for Development, Support, and Success in Engineering and Computing (CDSSEC) at Florida International University’s (FIU) College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), is a forthcoming expansion of the successful OURS undergraduate research initiative—designed to extend similar support to graduate students within the College of Engineering and Computing. Targeted toward thesis-track master’s students, including those enrolled in accelerated BS/MS pathways, GROW aims to deepen graduate-level engagement in faculty-mentored research.
The program is envisioned to provide structured research opportunities aligned with each student’s academic focus and career trajectory. By offering meaningful mentorship and hands-on project involvement, GROW will help graduate students build advanced analytical, technical, and professional skills that are highly valued in academia and industry.
GROW is anticipated to offer graduate assistantships and/or tuition waivers, making it easier for students to pursue rigorous research while reducing financial barriers. The program’s design is centered on preparing master’s students for doctoral studies, competitive science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers, and leadership roles in research-intensive fields.
Once launched, GROW will serve as a critical bridge for students transitioning from advanced coursework to impactful research and long-term professional success.
