Opportunities for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (OURS)

OURS initiative provides CEC students with structured pathways to gain meaningful research experience aligned with their academic interests and long-term career goals.

Through this program, undergraduate students are paired with faculty mentors who guide them in hands-on research activities. Participants develop technical competencies, build confidence, and explore emerging areas within engineering and computing.

Financial Support

OURS Scholars receive financial support in the form of a $1,000 monthly stipend during the fall and spring semesters while contributing 10–15 hours per week to research-related projects. This dedicated support model enables students to fully engage in the research process without the pressure of balancing additional work commitments.

Professional Development

In addition to the research experience, the program provides targeted professional development funding to help students advance academically and professionally. Scholars may receive support to present research at academic conferences, explore post-graduation pathways, identify summer research or internship opportunities, and develop skills essential for the job market or advanced academic careers.

By combining mentorship, hands-on research, and professional development, OURS prepares students to grow as emerging researchers and positions them for future STEM careers, graduate study, and advanced opportunities across engineering and computing.
